OWH VCMP

Welcome! I am overjoyed that you are here to join in the celebration for OWH's birthday! You show your support for our troops and OWH when you create wonderful cards but how about kicking it up a notch? Create a card with elements that represent each letter of Operation Write Home!
Can you see my homage to OWH?

O~ there are an odd number of octagons and an odd number of rhinestones
W~ warm winter wishes and a woolen hat and scarf,  and the star is mounted on wood
H~ On his head is a hat and he is happy and a tiny bit husky and even though I think those are cranberries- I could pretend they are holly berries!
And as a bonus- I have 1 more O---and ornament on the inside made from honeypop paper! Oooooh- don't you love when there is a surprise inside the card! (This card gets put entirely inside the envelope!)

I used Inky Antics stamps and honeypop paper, Copic markers, Spellbinder dies,  SU punches,Queen and Co gems, and papers from Bazzill, MME, American Crafts and SEI.

Do you need help and some hints, some words to get your creativity into overdrive? I bet if you look at your crafty supplies you will find lots of ways to put a little extra OWH into your cards! It can be in the sentiment, the theme- whatever works for you!

O- orange, ombre, orbit, outer space, over, orangutan, old, oink, one, otter, octopus, owl, oval, whiskers, wobble
W- wagon, wheels, watch, wonder, wag, worm, world, walrus, whale,  wolf, white, wreath, window, welcome, wings
H- hand, heart, hi, hello, howdy, hot air balloon, hero, house, harvest, hugs, helicopter, horse, HO-HO-HO

I hope you have fun with the challenge and share your card with us at the link below! And if you would like to win this very cool tool set by WRMK please leave a comment and a way to reach you- and I will draw a winner on Sept 8, 2013.

Rocking a Child's World- in a good way!

Welcome! This week the challenge for the midweek throwdown at OWH is to make cards for our troops to send home to children.
I pulled out stamps with funny aliens and got to work!
I like to have some of my cards interactive so I decided to use an Action Wobble- I have not used one in a little while.

Do you want to see it move? Of course you do!

And here is the OWH sketch for today:

                                 owh sketch canvas copy

Jen created the sample card today- check out more of her amazing work at her blog sparklewithin.blogspot.com.
And here is my version...I liked making a card with the sentiment and the patterned paper taking center stage. I stamped 'so much' into some of the speech bubbles. I colored my white ribbon with a copic marker- surprisingly I did not have ribbon to match! The colors look funky here- the main color is a green that matches copic YG95 perfectly and the word bubble paper is a pretty blue.
My camera skills and lighting are getting worse lately- the greens in the aliens card are also off. I need to try taking my pictures in a different location! In real life, I like the card and the papers and ADORE the sketch!

Have a great week and continue to craft on! Hey- don't forget to join the party at the Drunken Stampers! That pesky Yellow Canary team had more submissions for their twine challenge than the very talented, beautiful and down-right fun Tropical Hooters team had the week before....so come on- join challenge this week- Party Planner/Celebration! The Hooters really need your support! (I love the YC team... a playful competition is brewing....)
Take care and thanks for visiting,
Diane

                              DS138 Challenge Graphic

It's a party! Wahhhooooooo! I used a CTMH stamp and covered her with a purple glaze pen by Sakura- you know I love these pens! They give lots of shine, dry super fast and give some nice texture without bulk! The clipboard stamp is by Unity,the sentiments on the clipboard are from a variety of companies and I used a silver pen by Signo to color in the clip of the clipboard- doesn't it look real? LOL LOL   The ribbon is from my stash and matches the gal perfectly in real life- darn my lighting and camera skills! The zig zag/rick rack/chevron punch is by EK Success, the gems are Queen and Co and the fun ombre paper is by Studio Calico; Atlantic 6x6 pad. {Please take note of the order of importance of my party planning activities.... eat cake....yup. Always at the top of my list!}

Soooooo, I have not received your RSVP yet! Head on over to Drunken Stampers and join the party- no gifts required, no fancy party dress either-just some sharing of creativity and some lighthearted fun! I am sure you would love to be the Life of the Party for this challenge-come on- you can do it!
Thanks for coming to my tiny little party and yup- craft on!

Friends, Twine and a Sketch

Welcome! I have a few things to share today. On 8/14/13 the Operation Write Home Midweek Throw-down challenge was posted...create a friendship card. I knew what stamp I wanted to use...one of the girlfriends from Art Impression- I won this stamp -along with many others- during a recent blog hop! I colored my gals and did not have time to create the card until yesterday and then I watched OWH TV and Sandy challenged us to make guy friendship cards! Yikes! Well, I stayed with my original plan and will keep manly cards on my to-do list! I sent a box of cards to Kris yesterday. I actually had to take out my small pile of Christmas/winter cards...they would not fit in the medium flat rate box but I did not have enough cards to fill a large box. I am trying to do better with getting my cards in a few weeks before deadlines so I really wanted to get the box out yesterday-so out came the wintery cards! At least I have a jump start on my next box! LOL

Here is my friendship card! Aren't these ladies a hoot! I added some glaze to the glasses, and use lots of copics to color them in! I wonder what movie they are watching? The curtains are a memory box die and the ticket was made with a WRMK corner punch.

And continuing with the person-place-thing theme, this week the Drunken Stampers have posted a great challenge:
DS137

So, I thought I was being all fancy using the scalloped punched to wrap the twine around and I found some very old adhesive backed varigated floss braided trim for a tiny border.... but go look at what the Yellow Canary team came up with and  look at the entries that have been submitted! http://drunkenstampers.wordpress.com/
I feel like I am in kindergarten with my card and everyone else is in a Masters program! lol lol lol  I like my card just fine- as long as it stands on it's own....not up against some pretty incredible cards!

Now onto today's OWH sketch-which I rotated:

                                         owh sketch canvas copy

Paula make a wonderful sample card!(Operation Write Home )
I used a Mo Manning digital stamp- soooo stinkin cute! All the papers are WRMK Winter Frost, stash ribbon, colors of copics:
C2,3,5,7   G0000, 00,02    B000, 00,01, 02      E21,51 YR000   R20

OK- that is plenty of chit chat from me today! Have a great week and please do craft on! (yes- Denise- continue to scrapbook- it is relaxing and rewarding!Your kids will thank you!)

Another Great OWH Sketch

Welcome!  This week OWH posted another great sketch:

owh sketch canvas copy

Bonnie inspired the sketch with this card- what a sweet little puppy- I love the pop of red! You can see more of Bonnie's creations at bon2stamp.blogspot.ca

185 Bonnie
I made 2 cards based on the sketch...the red and black has an embossed music scale on the black panel but it is hard to see. And the 3rd card was made just because I had the paper out and decided to use up some scraps!

Craft on and have a wonderful week!
Thanks for visiting,

This very cool cat is from Penny Black. He is just waiting to jump into the ocean and use those stinkin cute flippers to swim all over the place! I hope he does not lose his shades... I think they are RayBans!

Autumn Around the Corner

Hello- thanks for stopping by! Over at OWH this week we are challenged by Jan to make cards inspired by fall! Yeah- my favorite time of year!
http://operationwritehome.org/midweek-throwdown-fall-theme/
I used a very cute MFT gal holding a big pumpkin- yes- the kids always want huge pumpkins! The paper behind the image is embossed with a wood grain folder. I made a small bow with stash ribbon,  used spellbinders dies  and copic makers, paper pieced dress-and my card is complete!

Sandy has told us that there is not a huge need for Halloween cards so I only made a few and I could not resist these adorable ghosts from CC Designs.

My issues with posting continued- and the only way I could resolve it was to install google chrome and I can post without problems when I access it from GC.

Please come back Saturday when I will post my first challenge creation as a Designated Designer for Drunken Stampers!
Have a wonderful week and craft on!

A New Term Begins!

Today starts the new season at Drunken Stampers!
There are 2 teams and this week the Yellow Canaries are showcasing their creations. For the rest of the year the challenges are based upon a person, place or thing.
Today's challenge: http://drunkenstampers.wordpress.com/2013/08/03/person-athlete-drunken-stampers-challenge-135/

I just had to play along! I have several stamps of baseball players but I really wanted a girly card...I ended up with 2!
The running girl is from CTMH, the balancing diva is Art Impressions. I used Studio Calico Atlantic paper pad for all papers but the bases- my beloved Bazzill marshmallow cardstock...and of course Copics to color. My other favorite tool- sakura glaze pens- add lots of shine!

I hope you join in on the fun with the Drunken Stamper gals!
Anyone having issues with blogger lately? I cannot edit anything- once I type it in--I can only change things by backspacing thru everything...so I apologize for typos and stupid things I may have typed!
Have a fabulous weekend- and go be an athlete! Then get to your creative space and craft on!
Thanks for stopping by!

JOY

This week at OWH we are challenged to use punches or dies to create our cards http://operationwritehome.org/midweek-throwdown-punches/

I used punches by Martha Stewart and EK Success to create my wreath. Lots of punches, a simple bow and I positioned the wreath around the word JOY...some tiny holly berries for a bit of sparkle- and I was done! Sweet!

It is almost Friday- yahoo! Craft on peeps- craft on! Diane
